Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano have successfully rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, following his abd¥ction in Danzaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area.

The kidnappers had reportedly demanded a ransom of N15 million from the boy’s family.

The rescue operation occurred around 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, after authorities received a formal complaint about the child’s disappearance.

Acting swiftly, the DSS deployed a tactical team that tracked the case and conducted a coordinated operation, leading to the safe recovery of the minor.

During the operation, 20-year-old Aminu Mukhtar was arrested while allegedly negotiating the ransom with the victim’s father over a mobile phone.

Preliminary questioning revealed that Mukhtar admitted to abd¥cting the boy with the intent to extort money.
