Tower Collapses In Kaduna Due To Vandalism And Severe Weather – TCN

Kindly Share This Story:

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) informs residents of Kaduna State that Tower No. 7 along the Kaduna Town Line I and II in Rigasa Community collapsed on Thursday, September 18, 2025, following a severe downpour and windstorm.

Upon inspection, TCN engineers discovered that vandals had removed some critical tower members, leaving the structure weak and highly vulnerable to collapse.

The incident disrupted bulk power transmission to some Kaduna Electric load centres, particularly those feeding parts of Kaduna South. To reduce the impact, TCN has advised Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) to link the 33kV Mogadishu feeder with the 33kV Abakwa feeder, allowing customers in Mogadishu to continue receiving supply.

It is important to note that areas such as Kinkinau, Yan Tukwane, Kabala West, Unguwan Muazu, and Kaduna North remain unaffected and continue to enjoy normal supply.

TCN engineers are already on-site dismantling the damaged tower and preparing for the erection of a replacement structure. Every effort is being made to restore supply as quickly as possible.
