“Track Govt’s Spending” – Group Tells Nigerians

BudgIT Nigeria has urged citizens to actively monitor how government funds are being disbursed and utilised, especially as the country prepares for the 2025 capital releases.

The civic tech organisation made the call in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, while commending the federal government for settling over N2 trillion in outstanding capital budget arrears from the 2024 fiscal year ^ READ MORE.

BudgIT described the development as a step in the right direction for fiscal transparency and urged that the momentum be sustained.

It also noted that states’ fiscal surplus had grown from N2.8 trillion in 2023 to N7.1 trillion, providing subnational governments with greater fiscal space to invest in key sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

“As the focus shifts to 2025 capital releases, this momentum must be sustained,” the organisation said.

BudgIT encouraged Nigerians to visit yourtracka.org and govspend.ng to monitor disbursements and track how public funds are being used across states and communities.

“Citizens should track government funds. We want to see public funds work for the people. Increasing revenue should translate to increasing development across all states, LGAs, and communities,” it added.
