Chelsea’s hopes of securing Liam Delap in the January transfer window have suffered a setback, with Ipswich Town firmly refusing to part with their star striker as reported by Metro.

Delap, who netted a goal against Chelsea in their recent clash over the Christmas period, has been a standout performer for Ipswich, scoring seven goals in 18 appearances this season.

Chelsea, who have been struggling with inconsistency, saw their faint title aspirations diminish following back-to-back defeats to Fulham and Ipswich, leaving them in fourth place, 10 points behind leaders Liverpool.

With the winter transfer window now open, the Blues are reportedly looking to bolster their attack, with Delap emerging as a potential target.

While Nicolas Jackson has impressed in his role as the lead striker, both Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are yet to live up to expectations when given opportunities.

Despite Chelsea’s interest, Ipswich has made it clear they have no intention of selling Delap, having only signed the 21-year-old from Manchester City for £20 million last summer.

In addition to Delap, Chelsea has been linked with Brighton’s Ewan Ferguson, though this move also faces significant hurdles.

Another potential target for the Blues is Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani, who has fallen out of favor under manager Luis Enrique.
