Arsenal have entered direct negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for defender Piero Hincapié, following an agreement on personal terms with the player.
Club sources indicate that Arsenal prefer a loan deal with an obligation to buy, though the final structure of the transfer will depend on approval from Leverkusen.
If the deal for Hincapié is completed, Arsenal are expected to allow Jakub Kiwior to join FC Porto before the close of the transfer window.
The move comes as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his defensive options ahead of a demanding season across domestic and European competitions.
