It has not been the transfer window that Newcastle United wanted.

Whilst Newcastle have signed Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest for £55 million, they have missed out on many transfer targets.

James Trafford, Bryan Mbuemo have rejected moves to Newcastle this summer.

This is in addition to João Pedro, Mohammed Kudus and Marc Guéhi.

There has also been massive speculation around star striker Alexander Isak, who has been heavily linked with a move from Newcastle to Liverpool.

When trying to sign one of Liverpool’s targets, Hugo Ekitike, the French forward ended up moving to the Merseyside outfit for a lesser fee than what Newcastle offered.

Today Newcastle have put an end to Isak’s departure to Liverpool, saying he won’t be sold.

Despite this, it has not been a transfer window any of the fanbase were expecting for a team that will be playing in the UEFA Champions League this season.

The club have also been strongly linked with Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.

They have also made some enquiries to improve on their defence, as they look to improve on their squad size with the club now playing a minimum of eight extra games this upcoming season.

According to reports, Newcastle have improved their initial proposal for AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.

Thiaw, 23, joined from Schalke 04 in 2022 for a fee of €5 million, with a further €2 in bonus-related clauses.

He has made 85 total appearances for Milan in all competitions, including 63 in Serie A.

A man of the match Champions League performance against Tottenham Hotspur in 2022/23 remains one of the highlights of his career, in addition to a goal against 3-1 in an away win against Real Madrid at the Bernebeu last season.

He also has three friendly appearances for the Germany national team, although he is still eligible to play for Finland.
