Troops Advanced, Recover Arms, Dislodge Terrorists In Zamfara Offensive Operations

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded fresh operational gains in Zamfara State following coordinated offensive operations against suspected terrorists in Zurmi Local Government Area.

Security sources said troops of 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism Unit 5, in collaboration with Tactical Combat Mobile Strike Team, conducted the operations on March 25 in Dutsi village, Moriki District.

The sources said the troops made contact with the terrorists during the offensive and engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

According to the sources, the fleeing terrorists were trailed by the troops, although no further contact was established during the follow-up pursuit.

The troops subsequently exploited the general area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

In a related development, the troops extended the operation at about 4:00 p.m. the same day to Gandu village within the same district.

The sources said while advancing towards suspected terrorist positions on high ground, the troops again engaged fleeing elements, further disrupting their movements and denying them freedom of action in the area.
