Troops Arrest Suspected Cable Vandals, Hand Them Over To NSCDC In Kaduna

Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army under Operation FANSAN YANMA have arrested two suspected vandals caught damaging electricity infrastructure in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources said the suspects were apprehended at about 12:45 p.m. on March 13 by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Alheri during a routine patrol along a railway corridor in the area.

The sources disclosed that the troops intercepted the suspects at Ungwan Tuta village while they were allegedly vandalising electrical cables belonging to power infrastructure serving surrounding communities.

Items recovered from the suspects included several electrical cables believed to have been cut from the installations.

According to the sources, the suspects were immediately taken into custody while the recovered materials were secured by the troops.

The suspects and the recovered cables were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Authorities have repeatedly warned that vandalism of electricity and other public infrastructure not only disrupts essential services but also undermines economic activities and public safety.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to help prevent acts of sabotage against public utilities and national assets.
