Troops Recover Arms, Destroy Drug Hideouts In Cross River Operation

Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered arms and destroyed suspected drug peddling hideouts during a cordon and search operation in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River.

Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 6:00 a.m. on March 20 by troops of 13 Brigade at Isabang community.

The sources said the troops conducted a thorough search of the area based on intelligence reports, leading to the recovery of five Dane guns and eight live cartridges.

“A Garmin GPS device was also recovered during the operation,” the source said.

He added that troops further discovered and destroyed three hideouts suspected to be used for drug peddling.

The sources noted that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid communities of criminal elements and dismantle networks linked to arms proliferation and illicit drug activities.

They added that troops would sustain similar operations to ensure continued safety and security in the area.
