Bode Durojaiye, the spokesperson of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has said the British recognised the Alaafin of Oyo as the Superior Head of the Yoruba Nation.
He said that was why they preferred to sign the Treaty of Cessation with the Alaafin of Oyo towards the end of the colonial era.
