Two Arraigned For Engaging In Messy Public Fight In Lagos

Police operatives from the Area G Command, Ogba area of Lagos, have arrested a 28-year old man, Saviour Ukpabio and a woman, Okoro Chioma, for engaging in a messy public fight.

LeadNaija reports that the incident happened on 17th July, 2025, at Baale Street, Agege area of Lagos, where they reside.

The cause of the fight between them was not disclosed by the Police neither neither did the suspects reveal what transpired between them that led to the messy fight in the compound.

According to the Police, the two had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to hot exchange of words and then turned into a fight between them. All efforts to resolve the matter by their neighbours proved abortive.

The matter was reported to the Police and the operatives moved into action. They arrested the suspects and detained them at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct. While there, the Police made every attempts to resolve the matter to no avail.

The Police found them culpable for their alleged conduct and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charges read:

COUNT I:“That you, OKORO CHIOMA “F” and SAVIOUR UKPABIO “M” on 17th July, 2025, at No. 2, Baale Street, Agege Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did fight yourselves in a public place and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 54 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, OKORO CHIOMA “F” and SAVIOUR UKPABIO “M” on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by disturbing the peace of the public and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

They were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.
