US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States has initiated major combat operations in Iran alongside Israeli forces, marking a dramatic escalation in Middle East tensions.
The announcement came early Saturday in a video posted on his social media platforms, following reports of explosions in Tehran and other Iranian cities.
Trump stated that the offensive, described by Israeli leaders as a joint military action is aimed at dismantling what he called “imminent threats” from the Iranian regime, including its nuclear ambitions and missile capabilities.
He reiterated longstanding U.S. policy that Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon and accused the Tehran government of supporting terrorism and violently suppressing protests within its own borders.
“We will destroy their missiles and reduce their missile industry to rubble,” Trump said, adding that regional proxy groups backed by Iran would be targeted to prevent further destabilization.
He also appealed to members of Iran’s armed forces to lay down their weapons or “face certain death,” and urged the Iranian people to seize control of their government once the military operation concludes.
Explosions have been reported not only in the capital but in several other cities, including Isfahan and Qom, suggesting a broad campaign targeting strategic military and infrastructure sites.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has reportedly launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. and Israeli targets, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict.
