The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG-106) and the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG-64) are now operating inside Venezuela’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), less than 50 km from Caracas.
Gettysburg is equipped with the Mk-41 Vertical Launch System, capable of firing BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles, giving it long-range land-attack capability.
The deployment comes immediately after the Russia–Venezuela Strategic Partnership Agreement officially entered into force.
The U.S. has increased carrier and destroyer presence in the region over the past 48 hours.
