Doctors are warning everyone to pay closer attention to their urinary habits, noting that frequent urination — more than four times a day — could be an early sign of underlying health problems that should not be ignored.

1. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Frequent urination is one of the earliest symptoms of a urinary tract infection, especially among women. UTIs cause irritation in the bladder and urethra, leading to a persistent urge to urinate even when the bladder is not full.

2. Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2)

High blood sugar levels can cause the kidneys to work overtime to remove excess glucose from the bloodstream.

This leads to increased urination, dehydration, and constant thirst — one of the most common early signs of diabetes.

3. Overactive Bladder Syndrome

This condition occurs when bladder muscles contract too often, creating an urgent need to pass urine even when the bladder is not full.

It affects both men and women and is treatable with lifestyle changes and medication.

4. Prostate Enlargement (in Men)

In men over 40, frequent urination, especially at night, may signal an enlarged prostate. The condition narrows the urethra, making it difficult to empty the bladder completely.
