US Police Officer Dies After Unsuccessful BBL Surgery in Miami

A 26-year-old police officer from New Orleans in the United States identified as Wildelis Rosa has died few days after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.

Rosa, who was also a US Army Reservist died in Miami, where she had travelled to celebrate her birthday.

She recently returned from Kuwait, arrived in South Florida in mid-March.

According to New York Post, she had her pre-surgery blood tests done on March 19 at Prestige Plastic Surgery Clinic.

On March 20, doctors carried out the procedure, extracting fat from 12 parts of her body and injecting it into her buttocks.

The surgery cost $7,495.

Three days after the operation, Rosa informed her family about the cosmetic procedure while she was recovering at a rental apartment.

Her older sister, Anamin Vazquez, said they became concerned when Rosa stopped responding to messages.

The next day, March 23, a friend staying with her found her collapsed in the bathroom.

CPR was attempted, but Rosa was already dead.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner confirmed that her death was caused by a pulmonary embolism which is as a result of a blockage in the lungs, a major complication from cosmetic surgery.

According to reports, Rosa had been in extreme pain after the surgery, had difficulty breathing and showed signs of low blood pressure and numbness in her lower limbs.

Her condition had worsened rapidly before her death.
