Nigerian author and social commentator, Reno Omokri, has once again shared words of wisdom aimed at inspiring individuals to live intentionally and maintain their value in society.
LeadNaija gathered, In a statement released via his verified X (formerly Twitter) page, Omokri urged people to be more deliberate about their availability to others. According to him, being overly accessible can lead to a decline in how others perceive one’s worth.
“Stop being too available to people. It is an invitation for them to devalue you. Use your absence to create a hunger for your presence,” Omokri stated.
He drew an analogy with economic scarcity, explaining that the value of any commodity—be it petrol or water—increases when it becomes less available. “Anything that is scarce immediately becomes more valuable,” he noted. “As ordinary as water is, it is uncommonly expensive in a desert.”
Omokri further emphasized the need for people to occasionally withdraw from the spotlight. He cautioned that constant visibility, even among influential figures, can lead to diminishing significance.
“But if you are always seen at every party, meeting, market, club, wedding, or stadium, it does not matter whether you are a king, politician, billionaire businessman, singer, actor, or athlete. Your value will just plummet,” he warned.
He also added a poetic twist to his message:
“Create some mystery so that your value does not become history. If you don’t become a ghost, your value will roast until it turns to toast.”
Rounding off his post, Omokri wished his followers a happy Friday and extended warm greetings to the Muslim community.
“And with this, I say thank God it is Friday. Jumu’ah Mubarak to the Muslim Ummah from your greatest admirer,” he wrote.
