Two years into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Renewed Hope Housing Programme—a key manifesto promise under the APC government—is steadily taking shape. The initiative is designed to tackle Nigeria’s housing deficit while also creating jobs and boosting private sector participation.
Below are the major milestones so far:
1. 10,000 Housing Units Commenced – Spread across 14 states and the FCT.
2. Urban Renewal Efforts – More than 150 slum communities are currently being upgraded nationwide.
3. National Housing Data Centre – Establishment of a central housing data hub, alongside landmark land reforms.
4. Private Sector Investment – Over ₦70 billion mobilized from private investors into the housing sector.
5. Job Creation – The programme has generated more than 250,000 jobs for Nigerian youths.
6. Kano Renewed Hope Housing Project – Construction of 2,000 housing units under the Kano Renewed Hope City and Estate in Lambu, Kano State is underway.
7. Seven Renewed Hope Cities Nationwide – The Federal Government is constructing one mega housing city in each geo-political zone and the FCT, with Kano, Lagos, and Abuja projects already in advanced stages.
