Rachael Okonkwo has addressed why she keeps investing in houses and cars despite being unmarried, pushing back against comments from her colleague Zubby Michael.
In a viral clip from a movie set, Zubby appeared to mock her success, suggesting her achievements might scare off potential suitors. “She already owns a house and a car, so what will the husband buy?” he said.
Rachael didn’t hold back. The 38-year-old actress made it clear she’s focused on self-growth first, not rushing into marriage. According to her, she wants a partner who is equally established, not someone coming to “rescue” her financially.
“The idea is to be purposeful before partnership,” she said, adding that her background shaped her mindset. “I’m not looking for a poverty-alleviation relationship. I want to find myself and be with a man who has also found himself.”
She also questioned societal expectations linking struggle with marriage. “If being poor is a yardstick for finding a good husband, why didn’t I get married when I was hustling?” she asked.
