Paul Ibe, the media aide to Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the trending incident between the crew members of Ibom Air and a passenger at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos on Monday, August 11.

In a post made on X, Ibe said the assault of the Ibom Air crew and airport security officials on Sunday by a passenger, Comfort Emmanson is the reason Nigeria must begin to be deliberate about sanctioning bad behaviours.

Stating that while he is tempted to hail the security officials for swiftly removing the passenger from the aircraft and the tarmac, Ibe said he expects that all passengers with unruly behaviour be treated alike and sanctioned where necessary.

His words, “There’s a temptation to hail the airport security officials of acting swiftly and removing the unruly passenger from the aircraft and the tarmac.”

Reacting to a similar episode involving a Fuji musician, Wasiu Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi, airport security officials and staff of ValueJet airline, Ibe said aviation authorities must set an example with the incidents.

“But the question arises: Why was KWAM 1 also not bundled out of the tarmac in the same manner when he, in a hostage-taking manner, obstructed ValueJet Airline operations in Abuja last week? Maybe it was because Comfort is not a friend of the President.

“This is the reason why the authorities should have made an example of KWAM 1 to avert copycats like passenger Comfort from breeding a KWAM 2 scenario.

The question is, when will KWAM 1 be arraigned in court along with Comfort? The world, especially the international aviation body, is watching,” Ibe said.
