The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has fixed March 28 and 29, 2026, for its national convention to elect new leaders of the party.

Sources within the faction confirmed that the convention will hold in Abuja, where delegates are expected to elect members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and fill other key leadership positions.

The planned convention is part of ongoing efforts by the Wike-aligned bloc to reorganise the party’s leadership structure, amid prolonged internal crises and factional disputes within the PDP.

Party insiders said preparations are already underway for the two-day event, which is expected to draw stakeholders, delegates and supporters from across the country loyal to the faction.

The development further highlights the deepening divisions within the PDP, as rival factions continue to lay claim to the party’s national structure ahead of future electoral contests.
