Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that a true officer of the law does not carry out an illegal order.

Wike made this statement on Thursday at a media briefing shortly after the FCT Executive Committee meeting.

The Minister was reacting to the incident between him and a military officer.

LeadNaija News reports that the Minister and some officials of the FCT Authority on Tuesday clashed with military men in Abuja over access to a disputed land.

“You are carrying out an illegal job. When people say ‘order,’ do you need to carry out an illegal order?

“If you are an officer, you are doing something illegal, even if it’s a legal order given to you, for that position, what you are doing is illegal.

“The Nigeria police as an institution, not private, was building under electric high tension, and I went there myself and said ‘no no, this is not right’, called the IGP and we settled it amicably,” Wike said.
