The Yobe State Government has directed the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools across the state as part of precautionary measures to safeguard students amid rising security threats nationwide.

The directive followed a high-level security meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu, where security chiefs briefed the governor on recent attacks and incidents targeting schools in different parts of the country.

According to government sources, the closure is a proactive step intended to forestall any potential breach within educational institutions in the state, especially in light of growing concerns over abductions and attacks on school facilities in neighbouring states.
