Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, has stirred fresh reactions after commenting on the controversial case involving Baba Ijesha and comedienne Princess.
Fabiyi, in a statement circulating online, claimed that court records indicate Princess had invited Baba Ijesha to her residence for a movie role, arguing that this raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He further alleged that the case has been influenced by public sentiment, suggesting that the justice system may be responding to emotional pressure rather than strictly adhering to the rule of law.
The actor also referenced alleged police findings concerning the victim, making claims that contradict earlier public narratives about the case.
However, legal experts caution that such assertions—especially those made outside official court rulings—should be treated carefully, as cases involving sexual offences are highly sensitive and subject to judicial determination based on admissible evidence.
The case involving Baba Ijesha drew nationwide attention, leading to his conviction and sentencing by a Lagos court on charges related to sexual assault.
Observers note that public commentary from prominent figures continues to generate debate, but stress that final judgments rest with the courts based on established legal procedures and evidence.
