Bandit Attacks in Zamfara: A Growing Concern

The killing of Abubakar Sadiq adds to the growing list of violent attacks by armed bandits in Zamfara State, particularly targeting civilians, health workers, and vulnerable communities in rural areas.

The Gwashi-Gurusu axis, once considered a minor transit route, has become increasingly volatile due to frequent banditry, kidnappings, and roadside ambushes.

Government Urged to Prioritize Security for Health Workers

The murder of a frontline health worker has drawn widespread condemnation, with many community leaders and civil society groups urging the Zamfara State Government and security agencies to increase surveillance and protection for essential service providers in conflict-prone areas.

Healthcare professionals across the state are reportedly alarmed by the development, with some calling for temporary withdrawal from high-risk areas until security improves.

While no arrests have been made, local law enforcement agencies are said to have launched an investigation into the incident.

The Zamfara State Police Command has yet to release an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
