2027: Ex- PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar Meets Obasanjo, Shettima, El-Rufai, Gowon, Others at Adamu Muazu’s 70th Birthday

Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday reunited with several key Nigerian political figures at the 70th birthday celebration of former Bauchi State Governor and ex-PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu.

The event, held in Bauchi, brought together an influential lineup of current and former leaders, including:

  • Former President Olusegun Obasanjo
  • Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu
  • Former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.)
  • Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai
  • NNPP National Leader and ex-Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso

Atiku, in a statement shared via his official X handle on Sunday, described Muazu as a key partner in Nigeria’s democratic journey, especially during their time in government between 1999 and 2007.

“As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Mu’azu and other governors who served within that period to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria,” Atiku said.

He used the opportunity to celebrate Muazu’s contributions to the nation’s political development and wished him continued good health and longevity.

The high-profile gathering comes amid rising speculation around political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
