President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the ongoing presidential direct primaries of the All Progressives Congress as a reflection of grassroots politics and internal democracy within the party.
Speaking after casting his vote at Ward E, Ikoyi, in Lagos State, Tinubu said the process allows every registered member of the party to participate directly in the selection of its presidential candidate.
According to the President, the direct primary system strengthens inclusiveness and ensures broader participation among party faithful.
“This is grassroots politics, where every member of the party has the right to participate and be involved. This is to ensure we have internal democracy,See more” Tinubu stated.
The President also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise across the country, commending APC governors for their handling of the primary election process.
The ruling party commenced its nationwide direct primaries on Saturday, with members voting across various wards to determine the APC’s presidential candidate ahead of the next general election.
