Nedu has faced heavy criticism from a section of Nigerians after being accused of using his popular platform, The Honest Bunch podcast, to manipulate, bully, and sexually assault guests.
His troubles began when reality TV star Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, accused VDM of being gay and involved in relationships with other men. This allegation triggered a reaction from VDM, who, in turn, made accusations against Nedu and The Honest Bunch podcast. The controversy quickly escalated as other influencers joined in.
As the allegations spiraled, Nedu reacted in a press conference by vowing to be less accessible to Nigerians, stating that his over-availability had cost him a lot in the past few days.
He said: “Her fight with me every time is, ‘Nedu, you’re too nice.’ That is her fight with me all the time. ‘You’re too nice, you’re too nice.’ But let me tell you something— that nice part of Nedu is dead.”
“Yes, I’m going to say it. The nice part of me is dead and buried. No more Mr. Nice Guy. I’m going to be a good man, but I’m not going to be nice to anybody again. And I’m unreachable now. You can’t reach me anymore. I was too accessible, and I was used by a lot of people. No more will I be accessible. If you think you have my number, think again. No, I’m serious. Sorry I’m saying this, I know you didn’t want me to say this. If you have my number, just delete it.”
It remains unclear whether he will return to the podcast after previously announcing that he was taking a step back.
