The Niger State Police Command has apprehended six individuals in connection with the alleged fatal beating of a young man accused of stealing two Android phones in Agwara Local Government Area.
According to information obtained by LeadNaija, the incident occurred on April 8 around 3:40 p.m. A report was lodged at the Agwara Divisional Police Headquarters by one Alhaji Dan’umma, stating that a man, identified as Alhassan Yakubu, was brutally assaulted by a group of individuals over allegations of phone theft.
The suspects — Abu Dogo, Babangida Iro, Mustapha Iro, Abdulmajid Anaruwa, Kamal Anaruwa, and Nurudeen Fulani — all residents of Agwara, allegedly conspired to carry out the attack on the victim.
Police operatives responded swiftly to the report and visited the scene. Yakubu was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Agwara, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.
Authorities have confirmed that all six suspects have been taken into custody as investigations into the incident continue.
