A five-storey building under construction along Peter Odili Road area of Port Harcourt on Wednesday collapsed, trapping several persons, including construction workers.
Eyewitnesses say the engineer, whose name is unknown to the workers, had predicted early on Wednesday that the building might collapse the same day.

AIT’s Chibuchi Chuku reports that two persons have so far been rescued, one body recovered, while efforts are ongoing to rescue more persons.
Less than 48 hours after a three-storey building collapsed at the Rumuolumeni community, another five-storey building under construction along Peter Odili Road collapsed at about 10 a.m., leaving several persons trapped under the debris, while two persons have so far been rescued.
Eyewitnesses said the engineer, whose identity is unknown, had earlier informed his workers that the building was under threat of collapse.

Others alleged that the initial approval for the site was for a three-storey building, but it was later upgraded to a five-storey building.
Officials of , the Rivers State Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development were on the ground coordinating rescue efforts.
