The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to strengthen the Colleges of Education sub-sector and ensure that the institutions remain pivotal in producing competent teachers and educational professionals required for national development.
In a statement signed by the COEASU General Secretary, Churchill Okonkwuo, COEASU President, Ahmed Lawan, described the appointment of Smart Olugbeko as a fitting recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, exemplary leadership record, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Nigeria’s Colleges of Education system.
COEASU emphasized that the appointment comes at a critical period when Nigeria’s Colleges of Education are undergoing significant reforms aimed at enhancing teacher preparation, implementing the Dual Mandate policy, promoting innovation, and improving educational outcomes.
The union expressed optimism that Olugbeko’s leadership, as a champion of the Dual Mandate, would contribute significantly to these national objectives and further consolidate the relevance of Colleges of Education in the country’s educational transformation agenda.
