The Achi community women in Oji River local government area of Enugu State has staged a protest over the incessant attack of the marauding Fulani killer herdsmen against them amongst other indigenous citizens in the land.
The Islamic cattle herders have recently unleashed terror attacks, maiming people, destroying farmlands and crops.
Large portion of farmlands have been reportedly ravaged by Fulani cattle, destroying the only means of livelihood in the area. On Monday 14th October 2019, the Fulani killer herdsmen in their numbers, trooped into farmlands belonging to the indigenes of Amankpunato – Achi in Oji River, causing enormous havoc, with farm produce worth millions of naira, wantonly destroyed.
The indigenous land owners and the vigilantes could not promptly intervene to ward them off due to unavailability of effective defense equipment.
On Tuesday 15th October 2019, the community women courageously and massively staged a protest against this malicious act of dangerously armed Fulani cattle herders. Placards with inscription: “Fulani Herdsmen Have Destroyed All Our Crops In Our Farms”. They chanted songs saying: “We do not want Fulani herdsmen again in our land”, “Fulani should vacate our land or face our wrath”.
