The Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 27-year-old man, Shafiu Abdulkadir for impersonating a police officer and extorting members of the public.
A statement issued on Friday night by the Spokesman of the state police command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said the suspect, a resident of Anguwan Yelwa, Yola North LGA, was nabbed on the 26th of September 2024.
According to SP Nguroje, Abdulkadir was found extorting tricyclists along the Aliyu Mustapha Flyover and around Jimeta Modern Market.
“The arrest was a follow-up to the information regarding the activities of some Vigilante men going around threatening and extorting Keke riders,” the statement reads.
“Upon the arrest, the suspect was found wearing police Camouflage trousers, a black shirt with the inscription “Special Force,” and boots. Full Details”
The police command spokesman added that the suspect would be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
