Rwandan coach Torsten Splitter has spoken about Ademola Lookman’s disallowed goal during their goalless draw AFCON qualifier against the Super Eagles on Tuesday in Kigali.
Lookman’s powerful header in the 22nd minute, following a throw-in, was overruled by the Moroccan referee. Splitter backed the decision, stating, “There was a foul leading up to the goal. Galatasaray’s striker Victor Osimhen came on in the second half but was unable to score for Nigeria. Lookman’s disallowed goal has sparked controversy, with many Nigerian fans calling for CAF to investigate the referee’s decision.
Despite the tension, Splitter expressed satisfaction with the result, saying the match provided a significant boost for Rwanda. However, he emphasized the need for improvement within the team, particularly in finding a top striker for the Wasps of Rwanda.
Torsten time with Rwanda has been met with success loosing only one out of seven matches.
