Garba Abdullahi, the Chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), informed reporters in Jos that the soldier killed the 26-year-old Muhammad near the barracks gate at Gebu-Bassa.
He condemned the act and urged the division’s leadership to ensure justice for the victim.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the division’s spokesman, confirmed the incident.
According to GAFDAN’s chairman, the event occurred around 7 PM when Muhammad stopped to make a purchase near the barracks.
After buying what he needed, he got back into his tricycle and accidentally stepped on the soldier’s foot while reversing.
Upon realizing his mistake, he exited the tricycle to apologize.
However, the soldier, dressed in civilian clothes, slapped him, prompting a heated exchange.

Muhammad was transported to the barracks clinic but was pronounced dead. The soldier was arrested by fellow soldiers who initially mistook him for a civilian.
Muhammad’s father, Alh. Muhammad, has called for justice from the Nigerian Army’s leadership.
Further elaborating on the incident, Lt. Col. Danja stated that it resulted from a confrontation between the soldier and Muhammad.
Initial reports suggest the altercation led to Muhammad sustaining knife wounds, and despite the medical efforts, he died from his injuries.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Headquarters of the 3 Division has detained the soldier and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Lt. Col. Danja emphasized the seriousness of this matter, assuring the public of their commitment to transparency and accountability.
He stated that if the investigation reveals any misconduct by the soldier, appropriate disciplinary measures will follow, underlining the army’s dedication to upholding the law and delivering justice.
He urged the public to remain patient during the investigation process.
