At 48 Nollywood Actor, Nonso Diobi Reveal Why He Still Remain Single

Nonso Diobi, a veteran Nollywood actor has opened up about his personal life, and his decision to remain unmarried, citing the challenge of separating his movie characters from real-life relationships.

The 48-year-old during a recent interview explained that the romantic roles he usually plays in movies affected his approach to love and commitment.

Known for his romantic roles in several Nollywood classics, Diobi noted that it became difficult to draw a clear line between acting and authentic emotional connection.

He added that despite making conscious decisions to settle down, it hasn’t worked well for him.

Thee actor also acknowledged that his tendency to treat relationships like movie scenes hindered his chances of finding the right partner. Over time, this has even led to speculation that he might be secretly married or living a double life.

“I just smile,” he said in response to such rumours, choosing instead to live life on his own terms.

“Everything I knew about love came from a script. As a young man growing up, I never experienced real love. There was no time for me to engage in that journey or create my own world of relationships. I found love before I found fame. That was love for me but industry happened.

“I became too busy. I changed. She was too good, too real, but I was changing, she couldn’t understand it.

“Everything about the industry took all of me. If I knew that the world would be what it is today, I would have tied the knot with her back then,” he noted.

For the actor, marriage is a personal journey that should be driven by genuine love and understanding — not public pressure or social media trends.

Rather than cave into the noise, Nonso Diobi says his focus is on maintaining peace of mind, building a successful career and keeping good energy around him.

“I protect my personal life because not everything belongs online,” he said.
