An officer with the Nigerian Air Force, David Sangokoya has been given the award of International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, United Kingdom. This was disclosed by the Nigerian Air Force on its Facebook on Friday. The statement is titled “NAF Officer Awarded 2023 International Sword of Honour At RAF College Cranwell UK.” It read, “A Nigerian Air Force officer has been awarded the International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell (RAFCC), United Kingdom (UK). Flying Officer David Sangokoya attended the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22 as a cadet from March to September 2023, emerging as the Best International Cadet on the Course. “The RAFCC graduates up to eight courses yearly, and the International Sword of Honour goes to the most outstanding amongst the award-winning international cadets for the year.” It said the award was presented by Prince of Wales, William Arthur, on behalf of King Charles III on Thursday. “The prestigious award was presented to Flying Officer Sangokoya by His Royal Highness, William, the Prince of Wales, on behalf of King Charles III, at the Royal Graduation on 12 September 2024,” it added. In his reaction to the honour, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar congratulated Sangokoya on his achievement. Operatives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB) have arrested four (4) suspects involved in oil theft, illegal bunkering and economic sabotage. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday. According to ACP Adejobi, this milestone achievement was marked after the operatives, in collaboration with the department of operations, Rivers State Command, on 12th September 2024, made discovery of a storage facility in Trans Amadi, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, used in dealing and processing illegally acquired Crude oil. He gave the names of the suspects as Emmanuel Nwachi ‘m’ 58 years; Adamu Bala ‘m’ 35years; Nura Musa ‘m’ 22 years; Bashir Abubakar ‘m’ 28 years. The 2023 presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has urged Nigerians to brace up as the fuel prices will continue to increase. Noting that the current rise in the price of fuel is just the beginning, Adebayo said Nigerians need not lament over the inevitable price high. According to the presidential candidate, the present administration is committed to allowing the market forces to dictate the prices of fuel across the country. The Department of State Services (DSS) has received a fresh warning against arresting prominent activist Omoyele Sowore. Renowned political activist Usman Okai Austin issued the warning on Friday, stating that arresting Sowore would be an attempt to suppress the voice of suffering Nigerians. Okai, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that millions of Nigerians will stand in solidarity with Sowore, whose voice is needed now more than ever. He urged the DSS to desist from arresting Sowore, stressing that such actions would only exacerbate the situation and warned of consequences. A top commander of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has been arrested by the State Security Service (SSS). According to PRNigeria, the IPOB commander was nabbed after operatives of the service and some Nigerian Army soldiers launched an attack on the proscribed group on Monday. According to top security sources, the IPOB commander specialises in coordinating the group’s activities in Ebonyi State.
