The blockade, which began around 9:00 a.m., paralyzed movement as angry residents prevented vehicles from entering or leaving the town, demanding urgent security intervention.
Sources who was stuck in the traffic for over seven hours, told Zagazola Makama that the protest ended following the intervention of the troops of Operation FNSAN YANMA who came to the scene.
The sources said the security commander, who is in charge of military operations in Maru, assured the protesters of enhanced security measures, prompting them to reopen the road after nearly eight hours of gridlock.
Security officials have since resumed patrols in the area, while authorities work to secure the release of those kidnapped.
As the military intensified onslaught against the bandit, the terrorists are carrying out pockets of attacks in vulnerable communities.
