Barcelona had a chance to extend their lead at the top of the table with a win, which would have moved them seven points clear.

Instead, their lead is now just five points, with Real Madrid having two games in hand.

Betis had an early opportunity through Abde Ezzalzouli, but Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Peña made a crucial save.

Barcelona took the lead just before halftime when Robert Lewandowski scored from a low cross by Jules Koundé, extending his tally to 23 goals for the season.

In the second half, Betis came close to equalizing when Sergi Altimira missed a header from a Giovani Lo Celso free kick, and Ezzalzouli forced another save from Peña.

Betis got their equalizer in the 59th minute with a penalty, awarded after Frenkie de Jong fouled Vitor Roque in the box. Lo Celso converted to make it 1-1.

Barcelona regained the lead in the 83rd minute through Ferran Torres, who finished from inside the box after being set up by Lamine Yamal.
