Nigerian music icon Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face Idibia, has raised alarm over the worsening insecurity and spate of killings in his home state, Benue.
Taking to his Instagram page on Sunday, June 15, 2025, the award-winning singer expressed deep concern and heartbreak over the continuous loss of lives in the state due to violent attacks, especially in rural communities. He called on political leaders and security agencies to urgently address the crisis and restore peace to affected areas.

“It’s so painful and heartbreaking to hear about the ongoing killings in Benue. So much tragedy, so much loss. My heart goes out to everyone affected. We must find a way to end this madness.”
This is not the first time the Benue-born music star has spoken out about the challenges facing his state. Over the years, 2Baba has used his platform to promote peace, unity, and social justice, especially through his 2Baba Foundation.
Many fans and fellow celebrities have commended him for lending his voice to the plight of ordinary citizens and calling out government inaction. Some urged the federal and state governments to ramp up security efforts and investigate the root causes of the crisis, which include land disputes, herdsmen attacks, and communal clashes.
Benue State, often referred to as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” has witnessed repeated violent incidents over the last decade. Communities have been displaced, farms destroyed, and countless families left in mourning.
2Baba’s emotional message has reignited conversations online about the need for accountability, proactive governance, and sincere efforts toward peacebuilding in the region.
