Benue: Mbakaange Community Backs Gov Alia

The people of Mbakaange in Vande-Ikya Local Government Area have pledged sustained support for Governor Hyacinth Alia to actualise his vision and mission for a New Benue.

Elders, traditional rulers, the political class and others made the pledge at a grand finale of the Benue Culture Revival Fiesta for Basic and Post Basic Schools, tagged: Mbakaange 2024 held at Mbakunde Primary School.

At the event organised by Takuruku Entertainment Creative Group in conjunction with the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), they called on sons and daughters to support Governor Alia for the unity and progress of Kunav nation and development of the state at large. They also thanked the governor for appointing indigenes of the area into key positions in his administration.

In separate speeches, Acting Tor Jechira and Ter Kunav, Chief Nyiyongo Achiaku and District Head of Mbakaange, Chief Samuel Songo, said the integration of culture in the learning environment was a welcome development and applauded commended SUBEB boss, Dr. Grace Adagba for the initiative and encouraged her to continue to work closely with the governor by reflecting his hard work and inclusivity to uplift basic education in the state.

Dr. Adagba said the event, which was in honour of Governor Alia, signified a take off of a blend of culture in the basic education to make the learning environment across the state more friendly, effective and people oriented.

She noted that the initiative aligned with Governor Alia’s vision to make schools and host communities complement each in the preservation and promotion of moral values for growth.

Deputy Chairman, Vande-Ikya Council, Mrs. Janet Orukuna, admonished Kunav people to always be positive in their engagements rather than finding faults and looking for ways to bring down those making impact for the good of the society.

Coordinator Rural Access and Agriculture Marketing Project (RAAMP), Stephen Numbeve, commended Adagba for focusing on delivering on the task before her and urged her not to relent while Chairman, APC Elders Forum for Vande-Ikya Local Government, Mr. Philip Baaki, said the party was united in support of Governor Alia to provide more democracy dividends.

Chief Executive Officer of Takuruku Entertainment Creative Group, Mr. Stephen Tyozua, said the fiesta was to revive the Tiv cultural heritage among learners in the basic and post basic schools and communities in Mbakaange as well as to celebrate the governor for the good works he was doing.

The three-day event featured cultural dance, folklore and cooking competitions for basic learners and community members from the five kindreds of Mbakaange as well as presentation of prizes.Don’t Miss Out! READ FULL ARTICLE
