A bomb explosion on Tuesday evening claimed the life of the vice chairman of the Kawuri unit of the Civilian Joint Taskforce (CJTF), Abba Godori, in Kawuri, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Eyewitnesses, who spoke with Punch, reported that Godori stepped on the explosive device during a routine patrol, which is believed to have been planted by terrorists the previous day.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, recounted the tragic incident.
“Mr. Godori was on a patrol when he stepped on the bomb. He was following the footsteps of the terrorists until he fell on the bomb,” the source said.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, stated that the incident had not yet been officially reported.
“Personally, I have yet to get any information on that; before night, I would have ascertained what happened there,” ASP Daso said.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, recently acknowledged the difficulty posed by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the fight against terrorism.
