The House of Representatives has distanced itself from a proposed “Female Legislative Mentorship Programme on Diplomacy and Parliamentary Affairs” allegedly being organised by the Nigeria–Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the House Spokesman, Rep. Akintunde Rotimi, the Green Chamber said the programme, scheduled for June 23, 2026, was neither authorised nor endorsed by the House leadership or the Office of the Speaker.

The House said it became necessary to clarify its position following the circulation of publicity materials in both traditional and digital media announcing the event in commemoration of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy.
