BREAKING NEWS: $225million Debt; Obaigbena’s Oil Vessel Detained, Arrested In Escravos

In compliance with a Court order over a $225million debt owed First Bank of Nigeria, security operatives today arrested and detained an oil vessel belonging to General Hydrocarbons Limited, a company owned by ThisDay Publisher, Nduka Obaigbena.

TAMARA TOKONI (IMO: 8302131), a Floating Storage/Production, sailing under the flag of Panama, owned by GHL, was arrested and detained at the Escravos, in Delta state by operatives from the Navy who flew two hours from the Naval base in Lagos to the Vessel’s location.

Navy personnel with Naval Gunship are currently in the FPSO and have taken over the Vessel.

First Bank Nigeria PLC had on January 10, 2025, obtained an order from a Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, for the arrested and detention of the Vessel belonging to GHL in an attempt to recover an over $225million loan.
