Intelligence sources have revealed a large-scale movement of armed bandits from Zamfara forests into parts of Sokoto State following intensified military operations in the state’s southern axis. According to our source Zagazola Makama report that the renewed offensive in Zamfara, particularly around Danjibga and southern forest areas, has forced dozens of armed groups to flee their hideouts and relocate towards forested areas bordering Isa and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
The bandits are said to be regrouping through forest corridors stretching from Gusami and Rugu in Zamfara into the Rukudawa forest near Zurmi. From there, they reportedly move through Dutsi toward Fakai, and deeper into Isa axis.
Sources estimate that as of late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, the number of armed elements in the Isa–Sabon Birni axis exceeded 200.
The movement is believed to be linked to the network of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, who is said to be aware of and possibly coordinating the relocation for strategic reasons.
Local residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movement as security forces intensify surveillance and response efforts.
