U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that following the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities, his priority is to end hostilities and pursue a peace agreement with Tehran.
According to a senior U.S. official quoted by Axios, Trump made it clear in private communications with Netanyahu that he does not wish to escalate military actions unless provoked by Iran.
“The president does not want to continue attacks on Iran. He is ready to do so if the Iranians react against American forces, but he told Netanyahu that he wants peace,” the official told Axios.
The revelation comes after a series of coordinated strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, which Washington has not formally confirmed but is widely believed to have supported. The move has significantly raised tensions in the region.
Analysts say Trump’s message signals a desire to de-escalate after a high-risk operation, potentially opening the door to renewed diplomatic efforts—though Tehran’s response remains to be seen.
