Burkina Faso’s Combat Forces have recorded significant victories against terrorists in a series of operations conducted during the first two weeks of January 2025, the Burkina Information Agency (AIB) reports.
The operations, which combined ground offensives and airstrikes, led to the elimination of dozens of terrorists, the recovery of significant war materials, and the consolidation of strategic positions across various regions of the country.
According to security sources, the operations began on Jan. 7 when the Bani Combat Forces launched an assault on a crime watch post in their area. The operation neutralized multiple terrorists, captured a suspect, and recovered military equipment.
In the North Central region, air operations targeted suspicious movements near Boulsa, with airstrikes eliminating criminals in Zeguedeguin.
On Jan. 8, the BIR 23 unit engaged terrorists during a reconnaissance mission in Goron, inflicting heavy losses and recovering critical logistics. The following day, a criminal raid in Mené was repelled through coordinated air and ground operations, with missiles hitting key targets and ground troops completing the mission.
Subsequent operations from Jan. 10 to Jan. 18 saw intensified efforts by the Combat Forces: Jan. 10: The Leopard Unit thwarted a terrorist attack in Wendboulgou, recovering weapons and other materials.
Jan. 11: The BIR 19 defended its position north of Bogandé, defeating the attackers and seizing equipment. Jan. 12: A joint detachment in Central East neutralized terrorists during an ambush near Ouarweogo. Jan. 15: Special Forces intercepted armed groups near Pobe Mengao and conducted airstrikes in the three-border region, eliminating multiple terrorists.
Jan. 16–17: Raids in Aorema and Darsalam resulted in the destruction of terrorist bases, recovery of food supplies, and elimination of fighters by the 18th Solenzo Rapid Response Battalion.
Reconnaissance operations by the 10th BIR in Ouarakuy, Kodougou, and Bagala also led to the elimination of more terrorists, with logistical means secured and riverbanks further protected.
Between Jan. 16 and Jan. 18, special forces commandos conducted intensive offensives in the North Central region, where they engaged in fierce battles, decimating terrorist groups and recovering war materials.Tap Here To Read Full Details
