Political analyst and former spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign, Daniel Bwala, has issued a strong warning to Labour Party leader Peter Obi, cautioning him against accepting a running mate position in any alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in a televised interview, Bwala declared that Obi’s supporters—known as the “Obidients”—entered into a social contract with him to run solely as a presidential candidate, and not to play second fiddle in any political arrangement.
“Peter Obi will be making the biggest mistake of his life to now come together under the agreement he will be a running mate,” Bwala stated. “Because all the people you are hearing ‘Obidient’ have only one contract with Peter Obi: that he will run for president.”
The comment comes amid ongoing speculations of potential coalitions among opposition figures ahead of the next election cycle, especially between Obi and other major political players such as Atiku Abubakar or Rabiu Kwankwaso.
