A 26-year-old cab driver was stabbed to death by a passenger and his friends following an argument over a 400-rupee fare in the Sonia Vihar area of Northeast Delhi, reported PTI citing officials.

Sandeep told the police that he had brought three passengers—Deepanshu alias Ashu, Rahul, and Mayank—from Noida. After reaching Pusta 2 in Sonia Vihar, the ride was complete. He informed the police that the accused did not want to pay the 400 rupee fare and started assaulting him.
During the fight, one of his friends Nikhil and a minor allegedly stabbed Sandeep in the head and stomach. Sandeep later died during treatment, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Rakesh Pawaria said that during the investigation, CCTV footage near the spot was examined and it was found that the cab was booked in the name of some Pratik.

The official said that Pratik revealed that on December 17, he met Dipanshu, Rahul, Mayank, Nikhil and a minor in Kondli where they consumed alcohol. He then booked a cab for Dipanshu, Rahul, and Mayank as they live in the Sonia Vihar area.
