Frank Lampard reportedly wants to sign a former Arsenal star as he looks to turnaround Coventry City’s fortunes.
The Chelsea and England legend returned to the dugout in November to take charge of the Sky Blues as they slipped down the Championship table.
His reign has begun in frenetic fashion, winning three, drawing three and losing three matches so far, most recently suffering a 2-1 defeat at Norwich despite leading going into injury-time.
Saturday’s result has left Coventry 15th in the table but just six points above the relegation zone, with Lampard keen to delve into the transfer market to aid his team.
And it seems the former Chelsea and Everton boss has found his first major transfer target, one that has years of experience at the top end of the Premier League table.
According to The Sun, Lampard is ‘trying to persuade’ Rob Holding to leave Crystal Palace and join him at the CBS Arena this January.
Holding spent seven years at Arsenal, winning two FA Cups, before moving to Palace at the start of last season for just £1million, but his time in south London has been a complete nightmare.

The centre-back has made just one appearance for the Eagles, which came in a Carabao Cup defeat at Manchester United in September 2023, with injury issues disrupting his season.
But at the start of this campaign he was mysteriously exiled by Oliver Glasner who has all but confirmed that Holding has no future at the club.
The 29-year-old has been training away from the first-team and with Palace’s Under-21s, playing in several of their fixtures, and would no doubt relish the chance to end his torrid time at Selhurst Park.
Curiously, the report says Coventry would like to sign Holding on loan until the end of the season, though surely the player and Palace would prefer a permanent transfer.
The Sky Blues are next in action this Saturday when they host Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup third-round.
Palace meanwhile have not been affected by Holding’s exile, with Glasner’s side well stocked with centre-backs including Chelsea loanee Trevoh Chalobah who could well sign for the club permanently.Tap Here for the Full Story
