A leading Civil Society Organization group known as Democracy Coalition has accused the Nigerian Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Abuja of complicity in a land racketeering deal involving some high profile individuals in Lagos State.
In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday by the National Coordinator of the coalition, Mr. Micheal Williams, the group said it’s very unfortunate that more than two years after a prima facie case of conspiracy, forcible entry, malicious damage and conducts likely to cause breach of peace, law and order was established against some high profile individuals in Lagos State, the FCID Abuja hijacked the case file and has stonewalled all efforts geared towards getting justice for the victim.
His words, “We read a report in the news media this morning where the Force Criminal Investigation Department Abuja took over the case file on land racketeering deal involving the Baale of Maiyegun Town of Lagos State and other notable names since 2024 but have refused to do justice to the case up till this very moment.”
The group said, the FCID action is keeping investors stranded and denying youth employment opportunities such business ventures would have offered them.
Adding that the FCID personnel cannot be keeping their own job while denying others their own means of livelihoods.
The group questioned the FCID’s sincerity in the ongoing fight against corruption by the Federal Government and wondered why some elements would be hiding under the veneer of police work to aid and abate criminal activities in some forms.
While calling for the intervention of Mr. President in the matter, the group gives the FCID Abuja seven days to address the matter or face appropriate action.
Signed:
Mr. Michael Williams,
National Coordinator,
Democracy Coalition
